Civil Unions

If you have even been considering a Civil Union

Congratulations!

Although Civil Unions have had official status in New Zealand since 2005, there has not necessarily been such a shift in everyone's thinking. My personal belief is that love is love, is love, and that we all deserve to have the opportunity to make a formal lifetime commitment to the one we love.

AS A WEDD-ING (JOINING)

a Civil Union involves the same emotions, values, pledges of commitment and symbolic gestures (for example candle lighting) as all commitment ceremonies. Most importantly, your ceremony should genuinely reflect your love.

My style is warm and relaxed and I am open to any ideas you may wish to incorporate into your ceremony. I am also able to suggest ideas to create understanding, so that everyone present fully appreciates the significance of your special day.

Carol and Denise joined hands and with their two beautiful daughters beside them, their wonderful families in front of them and special friends watching, they promised to love, cherish and support each other forever.

LOVE IS LOVE
Much of the literature, both poetry and prose, that honours love, does so without bias or exclusion. True love is beyond such constraints. The following excerpt by Sir Hugh Walpole (which is often read at marriage ceremonies) was written early last century and the friend Walpole was looking for was not a wife.

"The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one’s relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvellous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life."

Wendy was all we could wish for; professional and discreet, but exuding warmth with a dash of humour. In other words, fitting right in. Wendy lent an air of credible professionalism to our raucous, jolly day-long celebration.
